Path of Exile 2 S-Tier Classes: Multi-Perspective Comparison and Rankings

In terms of comparing the strongest Path of Exile classes, it’s easy to think of it from a certain angle: Clear Speed is how quickly a build can clear maps, Endgame Boss DPS is how quickly you can kill a high health endgame boss, and Currency-Investment floor is how much gear you will need to get good before you start scaling with POE 2 Orbs (and before you reach the point of performance diminishing returns).

The current S-tier list is skewed towards those that can hit hard from a distance and deal spell damage, but there are a handful of tankier alternatives for those that prefer safety and consistency. What that translates to in real terms, is ranger style builds, sorceress style builds, and some druid/witch style builds are generally good for the widest variety of content.

The meaning of each column

Clear speed is primarily about the movement, the area covered and the speed of a chain of builds without stopping. Typically the rangers and sorceresses will win here as they are mobile and wider with their hits, and it is one of the more playable classes of the game with a lot of flexibility.

Boss DPS relies on scaling, ‘single target uptime’ and gear to damage conversion. Clear-speed leaders start at the top end here, but if the build is focused on burst or damage then these can be an option.

The reason that the investment floor is important is because a build may look great on paper, but it may feel terrible until a ton of currency is put into it. The ideal low-floor builds are those that perform well with standard equipment, but make clean upgrades as you upgrade the equipment.

Best picks by player goal

If your priority is speed farming, Ranger / Deadeye is the standout choice. It tends to feel explosive early, scales hard into the endgame, and keeps momentum across both mapping and bosses.

Pathfinder makes for a very good balanced starter. It typically provides a decent balance of mobility, damage and survivability without requiring top-tier equipment.

Looking for the most screen full? Then go with Sorceress / Stormweaver. It clears rapidly and is very powerful but it generally has to pay for cleaner positioning and better defence management.

Druid and Witch-style builds are appealing if you prefer a more relaxed build. They tend to sacrifice some of the fastest speeds for consistency, which can be important if you don’t want to strive for the highest speed but for smoother progression.

If you prefer boss safety, then a build that focuses on tanks is more suitable, such as Titan. They might take a little longer to map, but they can minimize the consequences for getting wrong and they’re great for learning encounters.

Path of Exile 2’s best S tier classes overall are the ones that fit the criteria of rapid play time, high end-game boss damage, and low cost of currency. The idea when scaling efficiently is to focus on builds that scale well first and then improve naturally as you pick up some Path of Exile 2 Orbs.
